The IR5050 is designed for insulation testing of extra-high voltage equipment including large motors, high-voltage cables, transformers and switchgear rated above 1000V. With five test voltage settings up to 5000V and measurement capability to 10 TΩ, it meets the most demanding insulation testing requirements in industrial and power utility applications.

Advanced Insulation Diagnostics

Beyond a single insulation resistance reading, the IR5050 automatically calculates PI (Polarization Index) and DAR (Dielectric Absorption Ratio) — time-based ratios that reveal insulation condition far more reliably than a single reading, especially for large motors, generators and transformers. DD (Dielectric Discharge) testing adds a further diagnostic dimension for large capacitive equipment, and step/ramp voltage modes gradually increase the applied voltage to reduce stress on aged or borderline insulation during testing.
